Michigan Tech Women's Basketball Aims for Another Successful Year

The Michigan Tech women's basketball team just completed a stellar 2022-23 season as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament with a 25-7 record. Despite losing guard Ellie McKay, the Huskies return a core of players in Isabella Lentz, Alex Rondolf, Caitlin Meister and Sarah Dacus.

Coach Sam Clayton's focus this season is to take another step forward as she sets a goal to win the GLIAC Championship and go farther in the NCAA Tournament. She also emphasized the importance of focusing on the moment and concentrating on helping her team win.

Lentz was named to the GLIAC Preseason Top Eleven and is expected to be one of the team's leaders. Rondolf, a fifth-year senior, will play a calming role in the backfield. Meister, another fifth-year senior, is an unselfish player who can score when needed. Dax, a 6-foot-1 forward, has emerged as a strong inside player.

The Huskies also have four freshmen, including Alyssa Wypych, Dani Nuest, Maggie Napont and Brittney Mislivecek, who could all have an impact on the season. Vipic is a versatile player who can play multiple positions, Mislivecek is an excellent shooter and Nuestor is a point guard.

The Huskies will play William Jewell on Friday and Lewis on Saturday.
